Mid Winter 2018

Judges Dogs – Karon Jackson (affix Jackabyte)

Bitches – Phil Briasco (USA affix Aran Isle)

New NW member Debbie Desmond got things off to a great start by winning the Puppy Dog class with Elitebull Challenger and at the finish went on to take the Best Puppy award.

Almost immediately we saw the next NW member win – this time in Junior Dog with the Axe family’s Harley’s Choice taking first place out and continuing his string of first’s.

Then we had to wait until Limit dog for the NW’s next win; well a very creditable second place (out of a total entry of 13) for Andy & Linzi Mayren’s dog Bellarouge Adonis at Fergiestaff.

Into the Open Dog class and Michaela Riley’s Ch Molru Nothing Else Matters was looking good for a place – fourth!

So to the last of the Dog classes – Veteran – saw new members David & Julie Cartwright’ s Ch Zakstaff Game On taking first place.

On with the Bitches, which were judged simultaneously (but reported here as following on). The judge hails from the US so there was a clean sheet as far as his preferences are concerned so we all entered with no preconceived ideas – well most of us, anyway.

Remarkably the entry in Minor Puppy bitch was 16!! Which is slightly more than the total puppy entries at some shows in 2017.

The total entry in puppy classes today – both sexes – was 41.

It wasn’t long before the NW made it’s presence felt with a first in Puppy bitch for Michaela Riley and her Molru Shine Ya Light (I understand she’s called Rita) – this bitch is co-owned with the breeder Mel Corcoran.

We had a presence in the Yearling bitch class with second and third places going to Steve & Julie Simpson’s Briganah Body And Soul and Andy & Linzi Mayren’s Joemikeste Queen Of The Nile at Fergiestaffs, respectively.

David & Julie’s Zakstaff Winterfell took the next class Post Graduate – remember this bitch was the Top Puppy in 2017 – so the owners are pretty pleased to get back to winning ways.

It is suspected that Liz Stanway was a bit disappointed with her third place in the Limit class with last year’s Top Junior Bitch – Stormfire Crack The Code at Waystaff – I should also mention that standing in fourth place was Dave McKimm’s Biggleswick Fifty Fifty (winner of the CC at the NW in  2017).

As far as the Waystaff Kennel is concerned though things perked up a bit as Liz took first place in the Open class with her Ch Mosstrooper Making Mischief at Waystaff and followed that with the RCC!
