Winter 2020

LKA 2019 just fits in to this Winter 2020 slot.   The Judge at this last show in 2019 was John Scanlan (affix Pantycelyn)                                          Not a fantastic NW representation, so skipping the Dogs and moving on to Minor Puppy Bitch and sitting in First spot was Hamason Belle O’the Ball, bred and owned by Spencer Cox, Claire Robinson-Cox and Harry Robinson (in future reports this lot will be referred to a the family Robinson-Cox).

Second (again) in this class was the Howard’s Matrixstaffs Black Beauty with sister Matrixstaffs Black Velvet, owned by Derek Shaw back in 5th.

So apart from Debbie Desmond’s Ch Elitebulls Challenger and Karen Waltham’s (co-owner) Shortyrocks Faith Trust And Pixie Dust both winning third places in Open Dog and Junior Bitch classes, respectively, that was the top and bottom of it as far as the North West was concerned at this show.

That said, the breeder of the Dog RCC and handler at this show was Liz Stanway with Waystaff Moon Shine – you can’t keep Liz out of the limelight, that’s for sure.

The first event of  the calendar in 2020 is the Manchester Dog show – partnered with Morecambe Bay & Cumbria Open show – now showing somewhere in the Midlands – Stafford showground.

The judges at Manchester were Laurie Ford (affix Blitstaff) – Dogs and Mansel Frayne (affix Anslemo) – Bitches.

The judge at the MB&C show was Spencer Cox (affix Hamason)

Both these shows were held in the Pavilion, situated on the perimeter of the showground, away from the Main show.

With Manchester having two judges, the Club show followed on after the Manchester judging.

After a dearth of NW exhibitors at South Wales and LKA we saw a few more at these two “local” shows (80 miles from Manchester)

Although North Westers didn’t quite win the main awards two came very close, both winning the RCC’s – in the Dogs we had Ch Elitebulls Challenger making a good start to the year; well Debbie looks pleased.

In the Bitch ring Steve & Julie Simpson’s Briganah Body And Soul, handled by Roy Day, finally won a green card – the RCC  from the Open class – hopefully this is the springboard for greater things.

John & Chris Howard have taken 2nd Place with their home bred bitch Matrixstaffs Black Beauty at the previous two Champ shows in Minor Puppy Bitch – the SBT Club of S Wales and the LKA and so it was at Manchester, a third second.

However, they stuck around for the Club show and hey presto – a First!  Splendid.

In third place behind the above in the Manchester bitch ring – Minor Puppy with 16 entries (yes, 16 and 12 in Puppy bitch) – was the import from the Czech Republic Ruby Ice At Trawden Fransimo Bohemia, owned by Jane Roper, Bev Harrison and a certain Hornberg Wilson.

This young bitch is sired by Trawden Ice Cool – hence the reason for the ownership. This latter dog was third in the Limit Dog class in a class of 20.

Keeping with the Minor Puppy classes – Dave & Julie Cartwright are breeders of the dog Borgstaff Nightswatch – placed 2nd at both shows and Derek Shaw’s Matrixstaffs Black Velvet, was 4th in the Bitch class at Manchester and 3rd at Morecambe Bay.

In fourth place at the latter show was Sophie Sophie off Lanacastaff, owned by Paul Sutcliffe and Claire Crossman, bred by Julien Eurlings, from Belgium.

The winner of the Puppy dog class at Manchester was Jodels Impact, owned and bred by Eddie & Laureen Williams, whilst coming second in the same class at the Club show.  Standing in second place behind Impact was Brockmar Crack On, bred and owned by Martin & Michelle Murphy and in third was  litter mate Brockmar I Am Titanium – no sign of sister Brockmar Rewrite The Stars, though at either show.

Dawn Holmes’ Barielle Winters Solstice came in second place in the Puppy Bitch class out of an entry of 12, quite a pleasing result for Dawn – she gave the Club show a swerve.

Sorry we don’t have any photos of the above – all set to go but circumstances at home mean’t that we had to give this show (s) a miss.

In the grown up classes NW members figured here and there and too numerous to mention – at least we can say “always in the cards”.

We have got one though – winner of the Limit dog class at MB&C was Debbie McCarron-Tuer’s Elitebull Supermoon; not so good in the Dog ring at the Ch show.

Debbie’s other (younger) dog Elitebull Avenger had a mixed day – in the two Junior Dog classes – a 3rd at Manchester and a 4th  at MB&C but then went 1st in the Novice class, so here we are:

The North West Open show was held the next day after Manchester Morecambe Bay – for a full report on this follow this link.

This Open show was held on the same day as the NW AGM – possibly this was of no consequence for either event though – the judge Claire Rogers (Berrystock)

Best In Show was Gem Rowe’s bitch Illori Bootie Luv

Reserve BIS was Liz Stanway’s Australian Ch Mosstrooper Kentucky Moon

Best Puppy Bitch was John & Chris Howard’s Matrixstaffs Black Beauty – now travelling far and wide with this super bitch puppy, home bred as well – Chris looks a bit tired here, must have been a  long day.
