Autumn 2017

Starting off with the Morecambe Bay & Cumbria Open show at Cockerham (is this the last show at this venue?) James Ford & Lauren Williams and their young bitch Dajast Sweety With Jam N’Loz JW entered a great run of form with the Best Bitch award under judge Carol Kimber (affix Kimstaff).

A week or two later at the Merseyside Open show this was followed up with the Reserve Best Bitch and Reserve Best in Show awards under judge Dave Cartwright, no mean feat this, given the level of competition in the Dogs.

Dave had a high quality entry at this show – the Best Dog was awarded to Bellarouge Adonis at Fergiestaffs (more about him further down the page).

And the Reserve Best Dog was the recently crowned Ch Molru Nothing Else Matters, owned by Michaela Riley.

The two Best of sex puppies were – the Dog Diamonds Of Blanch Knock-Out and the Bitch Molru Shine Ya Light, with the Dog going Best Puppy, pictured right handled by Jose Martinez.

Left we have the best puppy bitch co-owner Michaela Riley (the other owner is breeder Mel Corcoran)

I dare not move on without mentioning the Best Veteran at this show – it’s our Club’s Secretary Claire Crossman’s Dog Pendlestaff Thunderbolt – this dog is co-owned by Committee member Paul Sutcliffe, shown here handling the dog.

Another “local show” for us North Westers is the Potteries – they held an Open show in this period with Simon Thomas (Sikaistaff) one of the three (but not to be confused with) S Thomas’ – the other two are Scott (Biggleswick) and Steve (Samtan).

The show results reads like a Who’s Who of NW members with their winning dogs. First of all there was Jose Martinez (actually a Potteries committee member) winning the Puppy dog class with Diamonds Of Blanch Knock-Out, then the Axe’s dog Harley’s Choice taking the Novice Dog class and Biggleswick Splash of Ginge winning Open Dog.

On with the Bitches and the Mayren’s Joemikeste Queen Of The Nile at Fergiestaffs won Junior, left with Andy handling

The Norton’s Tikkurilan Lucky Strike – Post Graduate, below right handled by Elaine

The Stanway’s took both the Limit and Open classes with Stormfire Crack The Code at Waystaff (above) and Waystaff Lady Ambassador (right) respectively – handler Liz.

So we had them all in for the bitch line-up – below

Simon awarded the Best Bitch to Stormfire Crack The Code at Waystaff (owners Paul & Liz Stanway) and the Best Dog to Biggleswick Splash Of Ginge (owners Karl & Jayne Lewis)

The BOB going to the Dog, on the right with Jayne handling.

Moving on and down South for the Downlands/Southern Counties Clubs weekend

On the first day – the Downlands show – and a first First for Michaela Riley’s (pictured above with Michaela handling) and co-owner and breeder Mel Corcoran’s Molru Shine Ya Light from Minor Puppy bitch, judging here was Dave Lee (Socksdown)

And under Dog judge Mark G Davies Diamonds Of Blanch Knock-Out continued his winning run with first place in the Puppy Dog class.

The North West fared a bit better the following day at the Southern Counties with Dajast Sweety With Jam N’Loz JW taking the Yearling Bitch class for James Ford & Lauren Williams

And the Mayren’s won the Limit Dog class with Bellarouge Adonis at Fergiestaffs, on the mat left with Andy.

This dog has the habit of popping up every now and then winning these Limit classes.

And this is exactly what happened at the Midland Counties under judge Gwen Small (Bethane) but this time went one better by picking up the RCC – a great result for Andy and Linzi, not forgetting the breeder Mandy Birbeck.

That’s put a smile on your face Andy!

Going one better though with the CC (and gaining his title on the day) was Jayne and Karl Lewis with their dog Biggleswick Splash Of Ginge – well done there and many Congratulations from the North West.

Moving on to the Stoneleigh weekend and first up the East Midlands show – judges Harry Robinson (Hamason) doing Dogs and the Bitches – Laureen Williams (who is not the co-owner of Jam N’Loz) – affix Jodel’s and not a bad haul for North Westers given the entry of 233.

Harry gave the Dog ticket to none other than Ch Biggleswick Splash Of Ginge – what an exciting couple of weeks for Jayne and Karl – this weekend was topped off by winning the RCC the next day under Laurie Ford at the SBT Club show. Phew!

This was literally a red letter day for the Axe family – not only did their dog Harley’s Choice win the Junior and Novice Dog classes he only went on to take the RCC – what a remarkable day.

On the left we have the Axe’s – Jackie, Harley with his Choice and Dean, looking a bit shell shocked, holding the RCC.

Meanwhile in the Bitch ring Paul & Liz Stanway’s Ch Mosstrooper Making Mischief at Waystaff was also awarded the RCC;  so both Reserve CC’ going to NW members – smiles all round.

Before these honours were rolled out Linda Miller’s Deldenas Black Shadow (Pictured left with Geoff Boote handling) won the 25 entry Open Dog class raising expectations in these quarters, but things were not to be unfortunately, still a top result nonetheless.

Finally at this show there were three creditable second places:-

First of all in the Limit bitch class we had Dave and Vicki Butler’s Joemikeste Play the Game tucked in nicely behind the ultimate CC winner (Hocus Pocus Of Spirit-staff’s) both pictured here, right

Second In the Puppy dog class, Diamonds Of Blanch Knock-Out being campaigned in the UK by the Martinez brothers on behalf of breeder/owner Bruno Blanch (based in Espania).      This placing was repeated the next day at the SBTC show under Laurie Ford.

And last (but not least) second placed in the Post Graduate bitch class was (and I have to admit to a vested interest here) Elaine and Tec Norton’s Tikkurilan Lucky Strike  (photo by Marie Shepherd)

The SBT Club show wasn’t exactly fertile ground for North Westers apart from the aforementioned (now) Champion Biggleswick Splash Of Ginge; again we are talking about a couple of second places both in Post Graduate – in Dogs we had Dave Fallows with his Caymenstaffs Stitch Mi Boy and in Bitches Dajast Sweety With Jam N’Loz JW (if you don’t know the owners by now you’ve not been concentrating)

What a fantastic show though – this represents the Gold standard for holding shows.
