Spring 2017

WELKS

Under judge breed specialist Gillian Skelly (affix Skelstaff) things got off to a good start for the North West when Bev Harrison won Minor Puppy dog with her home bred dog Trawden Ice Rebel, pictured right.

For our next member win we had to wait for Post Grad dog, with Nick Yorke and Braunstaff Feel The Noise following on with his success at the North West in the same class – sorry missed the photo opportunity – but check out Birmingham National.

The next class Limit dog was a great win for Linda Miller’s dog Deldenas Black Shadow, handled by Geoff Boote, as always – well done to these two NW committee members. Second in this class was Mike Richie (from Aberdeen but still a NW member) with his Northsaltire Nice One Sam.

But we weren’t finished there – the Black Shadow went on to take the RCC, a terrific result for Linda and Geoff.

Then the North West went one better – John Finney – a long standing NW member – took the Open dog class with Ballindona Crafty Copper at Sanguliano, followed by the Dog CC and ultimately BOB.

On to the bitches and more North West success with Andy and Linzi’s bitch Joemikeste Queen Of The Nile at Fergiestaffs maintaining her winning run in the Puppy Class.

Paul & Liz Stanway didn’t have a bad day out – first up their Spanish import Stormfire Crack The Code at Waystaff, not long out of Puppy, won Junior

and this was followed up by another import, this time from Australia – Mosstrooper Making Mischief at Waystaff taking the RCC from 2nd place in Open.

Lastly, the aforementioned Mike Ritchie (see Limit Dog, above) won two bitch classes – Novice with Northsaltire Force India and then Limit with Blazinstaff reflection at Northsaltire, so well worth the trip.

Birmingham National 2017

Our Judge today is Harry Coble – affix Surestaff

The big event of the day was the Champion Crown for John Finney’s dog Ballindona Crafty Copper at Sanguliano, with a third CC only one week after getting his 2nd – congratulations John.

The Axe’s with their puppy dog Harley’s Choice followed up their NW win with another First place, still in Minor Puppy.    Second place in this class was the Brady’s Calazde Black Hawk War and this dog went on to win a strong Novice class.

We also have a pic of Nick Yorke and his Dog Braunstaff Feel The Noise (left), with a third place in Post Graduate as promised after his 1st in the same class at Welks (no pic!).

The Puppy bitch class went to the Blows appropriately named Valglo Deja Vu – this exhibitor has been out of the dog ring for a number of years making a comeback with this bitch.

On to Junior bitch and another win for the Stanways Stormfire Crack The Code at Waystaff – this bitch is going really well.

May Scottish Weekend 2017

Judges    Dogs – Tony Moore (affix Tobarela)

Bitches – Bill Blacker (affix Crossguns)

The North West featured well in the Puppy classes with Paul & Liz Stanway winning the Puppy Dog class with their Spanish import Little Earthquakes Powerstrike at Waystaff – pictured left.                                    I think I surprised Liz a bit when I shouted to her for this shot.

This was followed up with Andy & Linzi Mayren winning Puppy Bitch with Joemikeste Queen Of The Nile at Fergiestaff (pictured below with Andy handling), this bitch going on to win Best Puppy bitch.

Tension mounted at the ringside as the judges discussed the Best Puppy award – it went to the Dog!

Getting back to winning ways were the Allsopps with their young dog Rubericla Trailbreaker taking the Junior dog class – Bryn looks a tad harassed here – dog looks cool though

Last but not least the Dog CC winner from Post Graduate was the Lewis’ Biggleswick Splash Of Ginge (pictured right), finely handled by breeder Karen Thomas – a great result for all concerned and a happy bunch they were as you can see in the photo below

This show took place the following day with Breed Specialist Frank McCann (affix Albastaff) as the Judge.

As far as North West members were concerned a number of creditable second placings:-  Paul Brady with his two dogs Calazde Black Hawk Warrior and Foylegarth Hakuna Matata in Puppy and Yearling respectively and further second places for the Ritchies with their dog Northsaltire Nice One Sam in Post Grad; the Martinez brothers with their dog Bullbrothers Dr Who in Limit Dog and the bitch Diamonds Of Blanch Princess in Junior;  and the Ryans with Ch Rubericla Black Starscream in Open Dog; the Owens with their bitch Kyraloebis Vive La Juicy At Tagstane from Yearling and finally Dave McKimm and Biggleswick Fifty Fifty.

I should also mention the Mayrens repeated the previous day’s win by taking first in Puppy bitch  with Joemikeste Queen Of The Nile at Fergiestaff but once again getting beaten for Best Puppy by the dog.

However the day belonged to the Stanway’s with their Australian import Mosstrooper Making Mischief At Waystaff not only being awarded the Bitch CC – she went on to be Best of Breed, but the real icing on the cake was that this CC was her third – say no more and another Champion in the Waystaff stable.

CONGRATULATIONS LIZ & PAUL

More icing – Little Earthquakes Powerstrike at Waystaff went two better at this show – best Puppy Dog, followed by Best Puppy

And we haven’t finished yet – Stormfire Crack The Code at Waystaff took the first place in Junior Bitch!!

CONGRATULATIONS LIZ & PAUL (Again)

Bath and Western 2017

No, this is not one show it’s two shows in one! This is what is termed a partnership show – Western SBT Club are partnered with Bath CS to allow Western to hold their Champ show on Terrier day at Bath.

The arrangement is that both shows are held concurrently in adjacent rings starting with Dogs in the Bath ring and Bitches in the Western ring.

The main event of the day was Ch Belterstaffs Ginger Joe winning Best of Breed in both rings – that’s certainly a first – and then going on the take the Terrier Group – well done breeder/owner Ian Houghton.

Ian’s not a NW member but given the uniqueness of this astonishing occasion it’s worthy of a mention.

That said the North West had an excellent day – first up another unique event, winning the Bitch Reserve CC with not one but two bitches!!

This is exactly what happened to David and Vicki Butler – under Judge Nigel Merrick at Bath (left in picture) with Seenworstaff Storm Warning at Joemikeste handled by Vicki and then under Western Judge Craig Dillon with Joemikeste Play The Game from Post Grad with Dave (right)

Another double was the Stanway’s Stormfire Crack The Code at Waystaff winning the Junior Bitch class at both shows!!

Following their CC the previous week at the Scottish Club show the Lewis’ completed yet another double by winning Post Graduate Dog at Bath and Western with Biggleswick Splash Of Ginge.

Winner of Limit Dog at Western was Andy & Linzi Mayren’s Bellarouge Adonis at Fergiestaffs (pictured right), who came close to a double win with a third place at Bath in a strong Limit class.
