NWSBTC Open show October 2025

This show was held at Longridge Civic Hall and was judged by Faye Gardner whose affix is Labrastaf, reflecting her early involvement with Labradors, coming to her senses in recent times with her Staffords. Faye is otherwise known as Fab-U-Luss Faye named after one of her dogs Ballindona Fab-U-Luss for Labrastaf and she hails from down Sarf.

The show was opened by our President Geoff Boote who introduced Faye, handing her the Judge’s gift from the Club, a practice now established given that most people are present at the start, as opposed to leaving it until the end when most have departed.

The entry on the day was 60 with a few absentees – several of which, 4 actually, were the Matrixstaffs, absent due to a crisis the previous day with the dogs (and we all know what that’s about when Staffords kick off).

As well as owners of the dogs we usually get a fair number of spectators attending and this show was no exception as can be seen from the photo below, taken early in proceedings.

And later on during the judging of Post Grad dog.

Both these two photos include Jimmy & Maureen Devine who I must say are regulars at our shows, despite no bar. Anyway Jim didn’t need a bar because he won the top raffle prize which included various bottles of wine and 4 packs of beer and lager, not to mention some chocs – should last these two stalwarts a day or two at least! The photo below is of this monumental event.

Have just noticed a few familiar faces on this photo (apart from the Devine’s) – it’s one of those photos that will be viewed on Social media in future years asking people to name them. For now they are Elaine Norton, Archie Bryden, (Roy Day behind), Julie Simpson, Paul Quinn and some headless person, unknown.

The Club has to thank Anna Boulton for her tremendous entry of seven Staffords and it seemed that most of these were in the Puppy dog class – see photo below, an unusual sight. In addition two more Dusklights, owned by others were entered at this show.

Main Winners

Best in Show was the bitch Briganah Heaven Sent You, owned by Hannah Simpson and her pal T Potter (Hannah is the anah bit of the affix).

Judges critique with photos of class winners and second places.

Thank you so much for inviting me to judge at the North West Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club Open Show today. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the committee for making me feel so welcome and for all their hard work in organising such a lovely event — it was a real pleasure to be part of it.

A special thank you to all exhibitors who entered under me. I greatly appreciated the sporting and positive manner in which you presented your dogs and bitches. It was a joy to go over them, and I was delighted with the overall quality present.
