Judge’s Critique

I would like to thank the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at this prestigious Club also thank my ring Stewards Mrs Kay Aspin, Ms Claire Crossman & Mrs Janet Mathews who made the ring run smoothly for me. Thank you to the exhibitors for bringing your dogs under me to give an opinion & taking my decisions sportingly which made for a super show with great atmosphere.

It is fair to say that dentition on the whole was very good as was type and diversity in colour, however I had a few with dirty teeth and long nails (Frown!!), quite a lot of exhibits were not as fit as they could be. I know its long dark nights but concrete work is essential for hardness. Crufts is coming up therefore exercise is key to good health and coat. Breeders take note I had a few exhibits that were rather straight in the stifle this needs to be kept in check.

Class 1. Minor Puppy Dog (1,Oa)

1.     Mr. S & Mrs. K Waltham DRINGSHAW MARQUEZ Fawn & White who stood alone,  Good head shape for one so young with a good mouth giving a nice typical puppy expression. Nice depth of brisket, up on pasterns, good width and depth of ribcage for a puppy, level topline stacked and moving, moved & handled well.

Class 4. Yearling Dog ( 3,0a)

1.     Mr & Mrs B L Grove.  MANARK MURPHEY’S LAW Black/Brindle & white on chest. This guy walked into the ring like he owned it (and he did). He stood tall, his expression captivated me. I could write a book on this guy, in my eyes he fits the standard in every department, nothing over exaggerated, nothing underdone either, the whole dog balanced as it should be, half bull, half terrier, terrific mouth, tight feet, there is an obvious bond between him and his young handler that will hold them in good stead for the future. His movement was effortless & was handled very well. He is a credit to his owners and breeders’, it was a real pleasure just to put my hands on him. He is a dog I would love to own, I will watch his career with interest. BD, BIS
