NWSBTC Open Show 21st January 2024 – Judge Roisin Stewart
I would like thank NWSBTC for the invite to judge their 2024 January open show, it was a privilege, thanks to Claire for her help with sorting my CV and checking all was ok right up until show, Roy Day and Dave Butler my ring stewards who kept ring running smoothly and keeping me inline, also to Vicki for making sure I was ok. Most of all thanks for all the exhibitors and exhibits for your entries without you all there wouldn’t be a show, also for accepting my decision and placing gracefully. There were no dog/bitches I found with any breathing problems or major mouth faults so won’t be mentioned in my critique. What change I did see from I last judged is we’ve lost bone, substance with narrow fronts. Getting Balance right is the key. (Just my opinion)

7 month red baby puppy, good head with correct bite, neat rose ears with lovely expression. For one so young he well put together and in good condition, moved ok just a bit raw to show ring but will come with practice and confidence. Good luck
2nd Bremmers Blue Boy,
7 month old blue puppy, stronger all round the 1st place also a nice puppy, good head, strong under jaw. Straight front with enough width, ample rib for one so young, good rear, movement ok with correct tail carriage, have fun with him

Cracking head with neat rose ears, dark round eyes, distinct stop, strong clean underjaw, with super expression. front straight and wide, strong neck, nice spring rib, short in loin, well bent stifles and powerful rear, moved well both ways holding topline and tail carriage, wishing you a bright future with him BPD
2nd Dusklight Ice Ice Baby nearly 12 months this white pied boy and another smart puppy of different type but has all virtues of 1, he has everything in right place, strong head, good under jaw, clean lipped, short leading to well placed shoulder’s, gleaming tight coat, close coupled, moved well holding topline and nice set tail was splitting hairs just lost out on leg length and expression on 1. BB nicely Balanced standard boy, who’s lady handler got best from, I liked this boy, good head, rose ears, round darkest eye, good wide straight front on tight feet, short coupled with nice tuck up, strong muscled rear, moved well both ways parallel holding level topline with pump tail carriage.

Another BB of quality, beautiful head and expression, correct rose ears, dark round eye, clean straight front, short strong neck into good shoulder, lovely tight coat, good bend stifles, well muscled read, moved well and with confidence.

Well well well this was star team of the day, I’ve watched dog and handler on many occasions at shows but today the lady handler got the best from him, this boy was up on his toes full of himself, showed great ring presence, he was so alert and worked as one with his handler, top size boy with bone and substance, powerful but clean head, neat rose ears, round dark eyes, strong underjaw with huge canines, wide straight front on neatest tight feet. Short powerful neck good layback shoulder, ample rib, short coupled, well tucked up underneath, rear wide and strong, coat was gleaming , stifles bend, hocks well down, moved the best I’ve ever seen him go holding topline and with drive. this dog had muscle on muscle a credit to owner, good luck in future, happy to award him BD & RBIS
2nd Beinn a Bhuird with Azzgem
Red dog with black muzzle another dog I’ve watched from puppy and wasn’t disappointed today to get my hands on him, not as strong as 1 but still a good alround dog,
Smart head with super expression, neat ears, darkest eye, straight front with ample width, tight course coat in great condition, hocks well down, correct tail set, moved well for his lady handler, keep up the good work with him

This red and white boy I really like and have from 1st seen him as puppy, he has it all.
Beautiful head, correct ears and eyes, clean lipped strong underjaw, good lay back shoulder, wide front, well off for bone and substance, short course coat in top condition. Well muscled rear, good bent stifles, moved with drive both ways, holding super topline and correct tail carriage. Handler just need keep close eye on front when stacked as tends to turn feet 10 to 2. RBD, good luck for 3rd cc as he will get it

Loved his head and keen expression,

1st Rougestaff Red Velvet
Top class puppy of 8 months, red with white chest and paws, lots to like about this girl, and I’m sure will make it to top with maturity, one I like to take home. Classy clean head with dark muzzle, short strong neck leading to correct lay back shoulders, straight front with width. Nice tight well padded feet, coat tight and course, rib coming in nicely for a puppy. Good rear, down in hocks, moved well holding topline with correct tail carriage, lost out on best puppy on maturity, good luck with her

1st Dusklight Del A Soul
White puppy with black markings, just under 12 months. This was another great team where lady handler got the best from puppy and she showed her paws off, beautiful head, neat rose ears, dark round eye which were alway in handler, good bone, wide straight front, this girl stood 4 square, strong rear with good bend of stifle, one of the best moving dog on the day, moved with ease and confidence as if she owned the ring carrying correct topline and tail carriage, loved her and was pleased to award her BPIS Good luck with her.

Another class act but with naughtiness, lovely red and white girl with good head with dark muzzle, distinct stop, rose ears, round darkest of eye, powerful under jaw, straight wide front on tidy feet, course tight coat, well of for rib, tight in loin, well muscled rear, moved well when settled, just preferred balance of 1, good luck in future

Short coupled with well sprung ribs and light in loin, moved with confidence holding topline and correct pump tail. RBB

BB with white marking on chest, around good bitch, everything in proportion and correct, clean head, neatest ears, round dark eye, tight lipped, straight front with good drop brisket. This girl looks good from all angles, moved with drive and confident, super topline.

BB, this girl would put some of the youngster to shame on fitness and she’s a veteran, don’t understand why this girl never made ch, as she is a cracker (as you would expect from this kennel) from nose to tail. All credit to her owner, some work you put in. Strong standard size girl oozes quality, beautiful head and expression, correct front with width on tight feet, coat tight and course, short body, light in loin, well bend stifle, well down hocks, moved like a Pro (well she is that) topline and tail set correct.
